Border Controls
One of the agenda items is a letter from the minister, in which she informs the committee members about the initial results of the border controls. This temporary measure came into effect on December 9, 2024, and runs until June 8, 2025. A total of approximately 2,300 Dutch border guards from the Royal Marechaussee are deployed to carry out checks at the borders with Belgium and Germany.
Results
The letter shows that the Royal Marechaussee controlled 41,750 individuals during the first three months, of which 29,150 were EU citizens. A total of 250 foreigners were denied access to the Netherlands. In addition, 90 individuals were arrested.
