The debate follows the letter from the Ministers of Finance, Economic Affairs, and Social Affairs and Employment that the Chamber received in March of this year. In this letter, the ministers analyzed the relatively high inflation in the Netherlands. While the average inflation in the Eurozone in 2024 was 2.4%, it was 3.2% in the Netherlands. The expectations for 2025 and 2026 also indicated that Dutch inflation would be higher than that of the Eurozone.ActionsIt is important that higher inflation does not become the new normal, the ministers write in the letter. Therefore, they mention several possible actions to address the inflation gap. They are looking into the role of the European Central Bank and Dutch budget policy.Read more, follow live, and watch backFollow the debate from 3:00 PM via External link: Debate Direct.
