The committees of the House of Representatives will receive a number of petitions on Tuesday, May 27, as they do every meeting week. Citizens and organizations who wish to express their views will come to the building of the House of Representatives to do so in the form of a petition presentation. This time, the Members of Parliament will receive eight petitions.
The petition presentation will take place between 1:15 PM and 2:00 PM in the central hall of the House of Representatives, the Statenpassage. Citizens and organizations will present the petitions to various committees. Members of Parliament from those committees will come to the Statenpassage to receive the petitions.
Petitions on Tuesday, May 27
- 1:15 PM: petition Amend the Public Transport Act 2000 and save the Dutch taxi industry on behalf of Taxi Protest Action to the committee for Infrastructure and Water Management;
- 1:15 PM: petition Protect our health and nature with fewer pesticides on behalf of the Parkinsons Association, Nature & Environment, and FNV to the committee for Health, Welfare, and Sport;
- 1:15 PM: petition Do not opt for mowing in the Krimpenerwaard on behalf of the Sustainable Water Management and Agriculture Krimpenerwaard Association (DWLK) to the committee for Agriculture, Fisheries, Food Security, and Nature;
- 1:30 PM: petition regarding support for mine clearance and return of refugees in Azerbaijan on behalf of the Benelux Azerbaijani Congress to the committee for Foreign Affairs;
- 1:30 PM: petition ‘Improvement plan for truck parking’ on behalf of TLN, FNV, and CNV to the committee for Infrastructure and Water Management;
- 1:35 PM: petition Choose care professionals in times of scarcity’ on behalf of the Federation of Professional Organizations in Healthcare (FBZ) to the committee for Health, Welfare, and Sport;
- 1:45 PM: petition to better position residents of the NPLV areas (National Program for Livability and Safety) on behalf of the National Residents Platform NPLV to the committee for Housing and Spatial Planning;
- 1:45 PM: petition regarding age verification via a public eID service on behalf of the ECP to the committee for Digital Affairs.
What is a petition?
A petition is a way for citizens and organizations to make their voices heard. The petition can be about government plans that the submitters disagree with, or about a topic that they believe is not receiving enough attention in the House.
