Member of Parliament Thierry Baudet (Forum for Democracy) has been conditionally suspended for failing to comply with the rules regarding secondary positions and additional earnings. If he does not register his secondary positions in the secondary activities register of the House of Representatives within a month, he will be excluded from participating in meetings of the House of Representatives for fourteen calendar days, except for voting.
The House of Representatives decided on May 27, 2025, to suspend him in a roll-call vote. One hundred Members of Parliament voted in favor, forty against. This is a sanction for failing to comply with the rules regarding secondary positions and additional earnings.
Code of Conduct
The suspension is a proposal from the Integrity Research College. The Presidium, the daily management of the House of Representatives, has submitted it to the House. According to the College, Baudet has violated the code of conduct of the House by failing to record his involvement as a director or shareholder of three companies in the register of secondary activities. Baudet also receives a reprimand for not following an instruction from December 19, 2023.
Voting
The deadline within which the Member of Parliament must register his secondary positions starts on May 28, 2025. If this does not happen, he will be excluded from participating in meetings of the House of Representatives for fourteen consecutive calendar days, except for voting. This includes participation in plenary meetings, committee meetings, and other activities held by or on behalf of the House.
