The committee is now starting with closed preliminary discussions. Committee chairman Daan de Kort: Mariska Rikkers is joining the inquiry committee at a good time. We are just starting the closed preliminary discussions. It is important for the continuation of the investigation that she can participate in these discussions.
What is the committee investigating?
The inquiry committee aims to gain insight into the actions of the cabinet, the considerations made, and the insights that underpinned them during the corona years. This also applies to the role and functioning of the House of Representatives. The committee aims to draw lessons for the future. The inquiry committee specifically looks at how considerations were made between the importance of public health and other societal interests. The handling of fundamental rights and the place that care has had in the considerations and decision-making will also be addressed.
The goal of the parliamentary inquiry is to learn from the experiences of this crisis to be better prepared for any future (health) crises.
