The House of Representatives will debate the situation in Gaza on Thursday, August 7. Members return from summer recess for this. The committee debate can be followed live from 14:00 via this website and the Debat Direct app.
The meeting of the Foreign Affairs Committee will take place in the Groen van Prinstererzaal. Minister Caspar Veldkamp of Foreign Affairs will come to the House for this.
Letter
The minister informed the House earlier this week via a letter. He did this at the request of the House. In it, he writes about the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, agreements with Israel regarding accountability for the situation in Gaza, and European and Dutch measures. The cabinet is committed to improving the situation through a combination of pressure and dialogue, according to Veldkamp.
Debating during the recess
During a recess, there are generally no meetings in the House. However, members continue to follow current events, and it is always possible to hold a debate during the recess. If a majority of the House considers it important to discuss a topic with the government as soon as possible, a recess debate can be scheduled. Read more about debating during the recess.
