Since 2023, Henri has been the political leader of the CDA. Under his leadership, the CDA has visibly renewed itself, with a clear course for a decent country. In the past two years in opposition, it has become clear what that constructive and responsible course can mean for the Netherlands. The importance of democratic ethos, the preservation of social service time, and reversing the VAT increase on sports and books. And the emphasis on investments in our economy for the long term instead of more short-term consumer spending.

The choice for Henri was clear: with him we continue on the path we have taken, with a recognizable and authentic Christian democratic voice. Together we will campaign for a decent Netherlands.”

Tomorrow, Henri will kick off his campaign tour in Overijssel. The venue is already sold out.

The nomination will be submitted for confirmation at the party congress on Saturday, September 6. Up to ten days before the congress, members can, with sufficient support, register as counter-candidates. On Tuesday, June 10, the candidacy for the rest of the list will open.

In the past two years, we have seen mainly chaos and amateurism in The Hague. Bold words and empty promises, while the real problems remained unaddressed. Affordable housing, good healthcare, responsibility, and respect for each other – that is what the Netherlands deserves. But what we got was stagnation and regression.

At the same time, I see a positive movement within our party. New members are signing up. Departments are fully engaged on the way to the municipal elections. There is a wealth of ideas to move the Netherlands forward again. After two years of constructive opposition, it is now time to provide a decent alternative.

A decent country is our choice for a better Netherlands. A choice for stability instead of spectacle. For connection instead of division. For responsible solutions instead of short-term politics.

I look forward to building together towards the CDA of now. First towards the early parliamentary elections, then on to GR2026. We will hit the streets, go into the country. We will write an honest election program, firmly rooted in our values. And we will tell this story to as many voters as possible, in as many places as possible.
