The spoken word counts.

We started this cabinet with the shared ambition to finally implement policies that so many Dutch people have been asking for so long: more security, lower costs for workers, more space for entrepreneurs, less migration, and
a smaller government.

It is disappointing that we are here today with this debate, but I hope we can still push forward. For all those Dutch people who want to see a difference made. That is why I am glad that
the vacant ministerial positions are being filled quickly as we speak.
There is indeed much work to be done.

It is our responsibility to look ahead. We owe that to the voters. Because there is still a lot of urgent work to be done.

Of course, I first think of the fact that so many are not safe in our country. Every eight days a woman is murdered. Our thoughts are with Lisa and her loved ones.
Putting a stop to this must be a top priority for this Chamber.
This is our joint mission, which I personally feel very strongly. It transcends the boundaries of left and right.

But I also think about the fact that we need to make important steps in finance. I hope that together we can provide the hardworking Dutch people with the attention and relief they deserve.

Additionally, many people have been waiting for years for robust asylum laws. I hope that the Senate approves them soon, so we can finally deliver on that as well.

And even outside our borders, we have our responsibility to keep the Netherlands safe. The war in Ukraine calls for ongoing support and a strong, straight back from Europe. I am confident that the Prime Minister, together with the Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, will continue to play a leading role in this.

Regarding Israel and Gaza, it is necessary that we continue to advocate for aid, food, and safety for the Gazans, for the release of hostages, and a ceasefire.

Not small matters – that requires leadership. I am convinced that BBB and VVD can firmly establish this together, no matter how complicated the circumstances may be.

Chairman, I would like to conclude with a call to this cabinet. To all ministers. Do not underestimate how much respect there is at home for the fact that you persevere. That you continue to take responsibility.
That you keep working to make a difference for those who rightfully expect that from us.

As far as VVD is concerned, that means: full speed ahead. Together, constructively seeking majorities. Together ensuring that we get these plans done.

Let us not waste this moment.
Thanks to the chairman for his sincere attempt to keep this debate dignified. It is unfortunate to note that this has not always succeeded. That is undoubtedly at least as frustrating for the people at home as it was for me here in this hall.
