Since today, the fast bus line 127 runs between Emmen and Hoogeveen. To celebrate the arrival of this bus line, the first ride from Emmen was festively welcomed this morning at the station in Hoogeveen.

Peak Service Emmen – Hoogeveen

On weekdays, the new peak service runs between Emmen and Hoogeveen. This bus currently operates three trips in the morning peak and four trips in the afternoon peak over the A37, significantly reducing travel time between the two centers compared to line 27. Particularly, passengers traveling to schools and businesses along the route of line 127 benefit from the faster connection. A student from Hoogeveen to Van Schaikweg in Emmen takes 30 minutes instead of 55 minutes: that is 25 minutes faster and without transfer! says Erwin Stoker from the OV-bureau Groningen Drenthe as an example.

Festive Welcome

At 7:27 AM, the first ride of line 127 departed from Emmen in the presence of Deputy Henk Jumelet, councilors Ronald Klok (municipality of Hoogeveen) and Jan Bos (municipality of Emmen), members of the OV-Consumers platform Drenthe, business community, and press. The bus was festively welcomed at the station in Hoogeveen shortly after 8:00 AM. As a twist on the classic cutting the ribbon, the bus honked its horn while driving through a colorful ribbon at the station. The festive welcome was organized in collaboration with the IT Hub, Dutch TechZone, Ondernemend Emmen, and Ondernemend Hoogeveen.

Brain Training on the Bus

The first passengers on line 127 received a puzzle book. By choosing the bus instead of the car, you keep your hands free to do other things. Like reading a book or solving puzzles.

Joint Efforts

The new bus line is the result of the joint efforts of various parties in the region, who saw the demand for a faster connection between the two centers increase. Deputy Henk Jumelet:

It is good to see that parties from the region are committed to accessibility. Now that the bus line is here, we also need the companies, schools, municipalities, and residents to work together with the OV-bureau to fill this line.
