Snack bar De Pieper from Zuidlaren will operate the kiosk at OV junction Gieten. The province of Drenthe has been looking for a new operator since the beginning of this year and found one after a selection procedure. The province also wants to improve the bus station in collaboration with the municipality of Aa and Hunze. Based on a passenger survey, improvements such as more greenery and extra cameras will follow in the autumn.

Deputy Henk Jumelet: “It is nice for travelers and the environment that the kiosk is reopening. The kiosk contributes to the social safety of the junction and makes the public transport hub more attractive for travelers.”

Kiosk Gieten will reopen this autumn

Wouter Heerema from Snack bar De Pieper: “I am very excited about the reopening of the kiosk in Gieten. We will provide travelers with various sandwiches, snacks, coffee, and other products that you would expect at a kiosk. After a short renovation and as soon as we have enough staff, we will open. I expect this to be in October.”

Passenger Survey OV Junction

In addition to the return of the kiosk, the province and municipality of Aa and Hunze are working together to improve the OV junction. A passenger survey was conducted in early February regarding this. Based on the results, various improvements will be implemented, such as extra seating, more greenery, and colorful accents on the concrete.
