From November 24, 2025, the demolition of the current Norgerbrug will begin. From then until May 22, 2026, the bridge and the Norgervaart up to the junction with the N919 (Kolonievaart) will be closed to traffic. Through traffic will be diverted via Norg, Donderen, and Vries. The bicycle path along the Norgervaart will remain mostly open during the works. Those accustomed to cycling over the Norgerbrug will temporarily follow a detour via Kloosterveen.
Schedule of works at Norgervaart
The schedule for the works at the Norgervaart has changed. The tender has been adjusted and is being reissued. The schedule is roughly as follows:
- In January 2026, the contractor will start work on the Norgervaart.
- A large part of the work will be completed within the planned closure until May 22, 2026.
- After May 22, finishing works will follow on the bridges at Koelenweg and the junction with the N919.
- Until the end of September 2026, there will still be some traffic disruption. The road will then be open again, but the route will take a little more time.
- To prevent extra traffic through Kloosterveen, a bus gate will be installed near Kolonievaart from November 24 until January 2026. Buses and (agricultural) vehicles can pass via this route.
- Emergency services can always pass the works.
Disruptions and detours
The province tries to limit inconvenience for residents and road users. Unfortunately, extra travel time is unavoidable. From November 24, traffic will be diverted via Norg, Donderen, and Vries. Road users can recognize the route by the yellow signs along the road and can temporarily disable navigation.
