The Province of Drenthe supplements the subsidy scheme Knelpuntenpot woningrealisatie Drenthe with an additional 2 million euros. This makes a total of 3.5 million euros available to alleviate financial bottlenecks in housing projects, where there is a so-called unprofitable top, in Drenthe. Thanks to this subsidy, projects that would otherwise not get off the ground can still be realized.
An unprofitable top arises when the costs of preparing plots for construction are higher than the value of the location. The scheme applies to new construction projects, transformations, and demolition-new construction initiatives.
Successful Scheme
The subsidy scheme has been in place since January 1, 2023, and has since proven its value. Thirteen applications have now been submitted. Good for the realization of 1,286 housing units. Since the original budget of 1.5 million euros has now been fully utilized, the province has decided to supplement the scheme with an additional 2 million euros.
Deputy Yvonne Turenhout: “The scheme helps to bring housing plans in Drenthe to realization. The evaluation shows that municipalities also appreciate this scheme. Thanks to this subsidy, plans can continue that would otherwise not or more difficult get off the ground.”
Support via Impulsteam Wonen
In addition to financial support, the province also offers substantive guidance through the Impulsteam Wonen. This team was established in 2020 following signals from the provincial Housing Agenda regarding bottlenecks in housing construction. The Impulsteam supports municipalities in accelerating housing projects, for example, in solving capacity problems and developing projects. Several Drenthe municipalities are now making use of this expertise.
With the additional subsidy and the deployment of the Impulsteam, the province aims to contribute to the construction of more suitable housing in the province. The maximum subsidy amounts to €300,000 per project.
