Residents of Drenthe who want to build a small-scale housing form together can continue to count on the province in the coming years. The subsidy scheme for Collective Housing Initiatives has been extended until 2027. Additionally, the province has increased the available budget for this scheme by €500,000, making it possible for new groups to apply for a subsidy or an interest-free loan in the planning and development phase of their initiative.
Up to €10,000 subsidy and interest-free loan
The scheme offers groups of residents the opportunity to apply for a contribution of up to €10,000. This money can be used in the planning phase of a housing project, including process guidance on drafting a project plan and realization, including a conclusion on the feasibility of the project feasibility study. Additionally, initiators can make use of an interest-free loan of up to €50,000 for the entire project, with a maximum of €2,500 per house. This amount can be used for costs such as hiring an architect or drafting a program of requirements.
Deputy Yvonne Turenhout: “Collective housing forms give people the chance to live in a way that suits them. With this scheme, we help residents take a step further: from idea to realization. This is important for the livability in villages and centers and aligns with the promise from our Housing Agenda.”
Successful examples
In recent years, more than 25 initiatives have already made use of the scheme. A good example is CPO Boshoven in Meppel. In this neighborhood, several CPO projects have been realized, including 42 affordable single-family homes.
In addition to financial support, the province also offers substantive guidance through the Housing Impulse Team. This team supports initiators in developing their plans. Think of help with process guidance, drafting a project plan, or making connections with municipalities and housing corporations. This way, the Impulse Team helps to make ideas concrete and take steps towards realization.
