The Province of Drenthe extends the subsidy scheme for personnel capacity in housing projects until 2027. Since July 2023, the province has been supporting municipalities through co-financing in the initiative or design phase of housing plans. Municipalities can receive up to €25,000 in subsidy per project. The scheme contributes to accelerating housing construction and achieving the shared ambitions from the regional housing deals: at least 16,200 new homes in Drenthe.

The scheme has proven to be a great success. Municipalities are making full use of it: in 2023, over €389,000 was requested, in 2024 this amount rose to nearly €571,000, and for 2025, the count is already at €181,000. All applications are linked to housing plans that contribute to the regional housing deals. Thanks to this subsidy, municipalities can strengthen the feasibility and progress of their plans.

Drenthe Housing Agenda

The extension of the subsidy scheme aligns with the Drenthe Housing Agenda 2024–2028, which focuses on realizing sufficient affordable and sustainable housing. In the short term, the emphasis is on accelerating housing construction: by 2030, 16,200 new homes must be added in Drenthe.

Deputy Yvonne Turenhout: “The great interest from municipalities confirms that this scheme meets their current needs. With the extension until 2027, the Province of Drenthe continues to make a valuable contribution to the shared housing construction objectives.”
