The Executive Board of the Province of Drenthe has decided to continue the collaboration with Chemport for the period 2026–2029. The Province of Drenthe will contribute €150,000 per year. This step helps Drenthe entrepreneurs in (green) chemistry to grow, innovate, and create jobs.
Deputy Willemien Meeuwissen: “Chemport connects companies, knowledge, and government. This yields visible results. From test and pilot facilities to a strong network and a single point of contact that truly helps entrepreneurs move forward. Together, we are building a cleaner and more competitive chemical sector in Drenthe and Northern Netherlands.”
What is Chemport?
Chemport is the collaboration for sustainable chemistry in Northern Netherlands. Companies, governments, and knowledge institutions work together on a clean, competitive sector. The goal is to change the nature of the chemical sector by producing smarter with less emissions.
What does Chemport offer Drenthe entrepreneurs?
Chemport helps Drenthe entrepreneurs practically. This includes:
- finding space and room for your company in the region;
- network and partners: quick access to companies, knowledge institutions, and governments;
- financing and growth support: guidance with financing and business development;
- test and pilot facilities to bring new technology to market faster;
- visibility and acquisition: profiling companies and attracting new activities to Northern Netherlands.
Strong cluster in Emmen
Specifically for Drenthe, the Chemical Cluster Emmen is important. The focus is on plastics, fibers, and recycling. Entrepreneurs find facilities, collaborations (such as SUSPACC), and a manufacturing industry to work with.
Why this contribution?
With this contribution, the Province of Drenthe ensures the continuity of the collaboration and strengthens our regional economy and employment. Entrepreneurs get a single point of contact with short lines to invest, innovate, and make sustainable improvements faster.
