For the further development of cultural institutions in Drenthe, the Province of Drenthe grants subsidies from the national Broadening and Renewal fund. This concerns Peergroup locatietheater, FestivalDerAa, Puppet International, Art of Wonder, Roestvrij Theater, The Bake Shop, Stichting Literaire Activiteiten Drenthe, and the International Film Festival Assen. During the period 2025-2028, an annual contribution of €333,333 is distributed among these institutions.
The province collaborates with these cultural institutions to promote growth, broadening, and renewal of the cultural offerings in Drenthe. There is also attention to a stronger artistic and professional direction for these institutions. The subsidy enables these institutions to further develop and possibly qualify for contributions from national funds. The subsidy is used, among other things, for expanding activities, talent development, professionalization, and increasing national visibility.
National Broadening and Renewal Fund
The Broadening and Renewal fund aims to strengthen the cultural infrastructure in Dutch provinces where it is currently vulnerable. The goal is to strengthen and develop cultural initiatives that have the potential to become nationally significant initiatives. An important condition is that the institutions are also supported by the province. In Drenthe, the mentioned institutions receive structural subsidies from the province under the Cultural Policy 2025-2028.
