All volunteer groups, big or small, have a chance to receive the compliment from Drenthe for their valuable contribution to a more beautiful and social Drenthe. With this compliment, the Province of Drenthe highlights volunteers. You can nominate an organization or initiative from September 1 to 30, 2025 via www.provincie.drenthe.nl/hetcompliment.
The province appreciates the efforts of volunteers with the compliment. The recipient of the compliment receives an amount of €3,000 to do something extra for their association, club, initiative, or organization in Drenthe. This encouragement is intended for volunteers who collaborate in a special, remarkable, and successful way, thereby making a valuable contribution to society.
Focus on youth
In 2025, the focus of the Compliment from Drenthe is on youth (ages 12 to 30). Think of organizations where young people volunteer in the neighborhood, care, or sports. Or young caregivers who care for a family member at home. Volunteer organizations that focus on the development, health, or well-being of youth also have a chance.
Deputy Yvonne Turenhout: More than half of the residents of Drenthe volunteer. That is more than the national average, and we are incredibly proud of that! Young people show that volunteering is alive in Drenthe. They organize activities in their neighborhood, help in care, or engage for other young people. With the Compliment, we highlight volunteers and inspire others to make a difference as well.
Reflection on 2024
Last year, the Compliment from Drenthe went to the Village Cooperative Hollandscheveld Verbindt. With more than 800 help requests per year, they ensure that residents receive the right help quickly and without waiting. Thanks to the efforts of countless volunteers and an involved village coordinator, care remains accessible, with extra attention to vulnerable residents.
Registration open from September 1
You can register your organization or initiative from September 1 to 30, 2025. An independent jury will then select five nominees, who will be presented on the website of the Province of Drenthe. From October 20 to 31, everyone can vote for their favorite nominated volunteer organization. On December 11, 2025, the recipient will be announced.
