Along the Gooiseweg, we are working on two projects: planting new trees and making the area wetter (rewetting). The work on the ditches on the north side of the Gooiseweg started in mid-February. On March 4, we began planting new trees on the south side of the road. The work is expected to continue until the end of May 2026.

New trees

Two years ago, many trees near the gas station on the Gooiseweg were blown down during a severe storm. We are now planting new trees at this location.

We are also planting trees along the south side of the Gooiseweg, from the Knardijk to the Karekietweg. Because many ash trees are affected by disease, we are choosing various tree species. We are planting oaks, lindens, maples, alders, beeches, and elms, among others.

Near the farms on Futenweg, we are also planting shrubs. These help reduce traffic nuisance from the Gooiseweg.

Rewetting

On the north side of the Gooiseweg, we are widening ditches. This allows more water to be retained in the area. This helps nature and prevents the soil from becoming too dry.

Planning

The work takes place in one period and is expected to cause little inconvenience. Once all trees are planted (expected mid-April), we will complete the project by installing culverts and sinks. These are pipes through which water flows.
