On Thursday, December 4, our Kings Commissioner Arjen Gerritsen was appointed as a member of the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR). This appointment was made on the recommendation of the IPO. As a new member, he immediately takes on an important role: spokesperson for the EU budget.
CEMR connects governments from 41 countries and is an important partner for the EU on topics that affect Flevoland daily. Think of energy, mobility, digitalization, and housing.
What does this mean for Flevoland?
The membership of our Kings Commissioner strengthens our visibility in Europe and gives Flevoland direct influence on European policymaking. Especially the spokesperson role on the EU budget offers opportunities to position our regional interests well towards the new European Multiannual Financial Framework 2027-2034.
