The determination of a preferred variant for the Spuiweg and Domineesweg is postponed. This decision was made together with the municipalities of Urk and Noordoostpolder. More time is needed to carefully weigh the different interests and effects of the possible variants against each other.

Carefully followed process

The goal of the project is to relieve the Domineesweg and to realize a future-proof solution for the accessibility of Urk and the southwest corner of the Noordoostpolder. Based on the current information, we cannot yet make a definitive choice for the preferred variant. The steering group has therefore decided to take more time to make a final choice.

This concerns a major change in infrastructure that will determine the accessibility and livability of the area for many years. We want to make a choice that is not only traffic-wise correct but also has support in the community, said Deputy Ellentrees Müller. That is why we now choose carefulness over speed and take the time needed to answer the last outstanding questions.

Follow-up process

The expectation is that the joint authorities will still be able to present a preferred variant in the first quarter of 2026. Once the preferred variant is determined, stakeholders will be personally invited.
