The bicycle path between Biddingweg and Wisentbos will reopen to cyclists on Monday, February 16. The path had been closed since October 21 last year due to bank maintenance along the Lage Vaart. Work continued intensively during the winter months, which is why the path can now open more than one and a half months earlier than planned!

Work Moving Towards Wisentbos

In the coming period, the bank maintenance will move to the section along Wisentbos. To ensure the safety of both visitors and the contractor, fences will be placed along the (bike) path. These are expected to remain until early May. The forest and the adjacent path will remain accessible to both cyclists and walkers.

The passenger jetty at Wisentbos will not be accessible during the works.

Maintenance of the Banks of the Lage Vaart

We are working on the banks along the Lage Vaart. A large part of the bank protection in Flevoland was constructed in the 1960s and 1970s and is due for replacement. Without maintenance, there is a risk that banks become unstable or that erosion occurs, leading to unsafe situations.

The works include the installation of new steel sheet piles. Although most of the work is carried out from the water, it is sometimes necessary to temporarily close (bike) paths. We try to minimize inconvenience by only fencing off the immediate work areas. This will be the case for the works along Wisentbos.
