Monday, February 2, was the closing event of Talent Colors Flevoland. For months, students from various technical schools in Flevoland worked on solutions for real challenges in the province. They presented these during the closing event at the provincial government building.

David and Jayson from Poort Lyceum had the most innovative idea and were awarded the coveted Unprecedented FlevoTalent trophy 2026. David and Jayson say: Our project is about passenger drones that provide faster transport between different locations in a sustainable way using hydrogen. A visit to Amsterdam Drone Lab motivated us to work even harder on the project!

But the public also had a say! The public chose Thin Than, Saäd, Bram, and Aiden from Poort Lyceum as favorites. They surprised everyone with their idea: We researched how to protect and make shipwrecks underground accessible. It was a fascinating subject to investigate.

Winners of the jury and public prize

The students were allowed to present their smart plans to an expert jury: Marije Gerritsen (Techkwadraat), Hessel Reitsma (MCM B.V.), and Annefleur Dekker and Sjoerd de Vries from the province of Flevoland. They looked at creativity, innovation, and refreshing ideas, among other things.

Festive edition: 40 years of Flevoland

This edition had extra significance. In 2026, the province of Flevoland turns 40 years old. This makes the event a great moment to reflect on young talent already thinking about the future of the province.

Deputy Toon van Dijk says about this: “Flevoland was built 40 years ago on talent, courage, and pioneering spirit. With Talent Colors Flevoland, we give todays talent the stage it deserves. Just like the pioneers back then, they can give color to the future of our province.”
