In the new series Nieuw Land vertelt, the national park takes residents and visitors on a journey through the special history and future of the park. The goal is not only to introduce people to the national park but also to actively let them experience what makes the area so unique. By linking stories to routes, excursions, and activities, a direct connection is created between nature, cultural history, and the surroundings.
“With this story series, we want people from the area to truly experience the national park. It is not just a place to visit, but also something to be proud of,” says Sjaak Kruis, chairman of National Park Nieuw Land.
The stories are shared online via the website of National Park Nieuw Land, social media, and online through the Flevopost.
Stories for Children
Besides the main series, the national park also starts a special childrens story series called LUUK & IJSBRAND. Luuk is a curious boy and IJsbrand an adventurous spoonbill. Together they experience exciting adventures in National Park Nieuw Land. Every month a new story appears online and on page two of the Flevopost in Lelystad, so children can also get to know and experience the national park.
About National Park Nieuw Land
National Park Nieuw Land is the second youngest national park in the Netherlands and the largest man-made nature park in the world with 29,000 hectares of nature! The national park consists of the (nature) areas Oostvaardersplassen, Lepelaarplassen, Marker Wadden, and the Markermeer. Nieuw Land owes its origin to the largest land reclamation project in the world: the draining of the Zuiderzee, which created Flevoland! It is a true bird paradise with the sea eagle as its icon.
