On Friday, November 28, the Royal Netherlands Aerospace Centre (NLR) in Marknesse opened the Energy to Propulsion Test Facility (EPTF). This new test facility is an important milestone in making aviation and mobility more sustainable. The official festive opening was performed by Deputy Müller, together with the CTO of NLR and the head of the EPTF.
In her speech, Müller emphasized how essential this test facility is for the future of Flevoland, but also for the international transition to sustainable mobility.
Towards climate-neutral aviation
In this test facility, we can safely and effectively test hydrogen-electric engines. This helps to make climate-neutral aviation possible faster. The facility fits well with the plans of the Mobility & Infrastructure Test Centre (MITC). At MITC, we collaborate with the municipality of Noordoostpolder, schools such as Firda and Windesheim, and partners such as NLR, DNW, and RDW. Together we share our knowledge and facilities.
With the opening of the new test facility, we once again show that Flevoland is leading in developing modern and sustainable mobility. It is an inspiring example of how cooperation between government, business, and education leads to tangible results that have impact far beyond the provincial borders.
