As the Province of Flevoland, we are very pleased that the coalition parties D66, CDA, and VVD want to allow civil aviation at Lelystad Airport in the agreement presented today, ‘Aan de slag’. This ends about ten years of uncertainty and ambiguity about the future of the airport.
Lelystad Airport, for both civil aviation and Defense fighter jets, offers Flevoland significant economic development opportunities, and at the same time, we as a region can contribute to the national security task. Naturally, we will continue discussions with the new cabinet and directly involved parties of the airport to ensure that the interests of our residents are safeguarded in the developments on and around Lelystad Airport.
