Together with agricultural entrepreneurs, social organizations, and knowledge partners, we work on the challenges in the rural area. This strengthens nature, climate, and water while simultaneously building a future-proof agriculture suited to Flevoland. This joint movement was previously recorded in Food for New Generations, Flevolands vision on agriculture. To deepen this cooperation, we organized an inspirational trip together with Horizon for policymakers, agricultural entrepreneurs, administrators, and involved organizations. The day focused on learning, exchanging knowledge, and exploring ways to tackle Flevolands challenges in a targeted and area-specific manner.

Program

Policymakers gained insight into how goal-oriented management helps to steer more clearly on results and to maintain course together with involved parties in complex challenges. Afterwards, a visit followed in Brabant, where various initiatives show how innovation, data, and cooperation can contribute to future-proof agriculture. This included getting acquainted with precision agriculture, data-driven operations, and initiatives where governments, knowledge institutions, and entrepreneurs jointly work on new agricultural systems. These examples provide valuable insights for Flevoland. Although Brabant and Flevoland differ, the group was inspired by the way collaboration and experimentation take place there. The lessons help us to further strengthen the Flevoland approach.

New cooperation in Flevoland

During the trip, positive news was also shared from the own province. Nine Flevoland organizations have united in the foundation Agricultural Collective Flevoland. They previously contributed to Food for New Generations and are committed to a joint approach towards future-proof agriculture. The formation of this collective shows that Flevoland parties take initiative and responsibility themselves. This fits with the movement towards goal-oriented management and the Flevoland way of cooperation.

Moving forward together

The insights from this day will be used in the coming period in the Flevoland approach for the rural area. The province continues to invest in cooperation with agricultural entrepreneurs, organizations, and knowledge partners. Only together can we build a rural area that is future-proof, with space for agriculture, nature, water, and climate.
