Today, several young people from Flevoland participated in the Provincial Youth Debate organized by the National Youth Council (NJR) at the Provincial House in Lelystad. The youth actively engaged with important social themes throughout the day. The day was opened by Deputy Toon van Dijk, who welcomed the young people to the Chamber of States. He encouraged them to speak freely and shared some debate tips. “Young people often see the world differently than we do. Your fresh perspective and courage to engage in conversation is exactly what we need. This is the moment to make your voices heard.”
Proposals on Various Topics
Under the guidance of provincial civil servants, the young people formulated proposals on the topics of environment, social engagement, and sports. In the afternoon, they presented their ideas in a simulated provincial council debate, in the presence of council member Andrea van Veen (BBB) and John Cocu (SP). Participants who are selected will take part in the 31st National Youth Debate in The Hague. The province wishes these young Flevolanders the best of luck!
