The Trinitas Gymnasium from Almere won the Flevoland preliminary round of The Voice of Young Netherlands. The prize for the best speech went to Briska from the Emelwerda College in Emmeloord. The winners of the preliminary round have a chance to compete in the national final, which will be held in April in Rotterdam.
Six schools participated in the preliminary round at the provincial house. The day was opened by Commissioner of the King Arjen Gerritsen. The team from Trinitas Gymnasium won the preliminary round due to their strong teamwork, sharp arguments, and good substantiation. The team thus wins a spot in the eighth final on March 13. The second prize went to the Helen Parkhurst from Almere.
Speech competition
The winner of the speech competition also advances in the national trajectory and has a chance to win the prize for the best speech in the Netherlands. Due to the high level of speeches in Flevoland, Yara from Helen Parkhurst and Chewendy from the Oostvaarders College have also qualified for the next round of the speech competition on March 14.
The largest in the Netherlands
The Voice of Young Netherlands originates from the largest debate and speech competition in the Netherlands: On the way to the Lower House. The project is the largest debate and speech project in the Netherlands and gives young people a platform to make their voices heard. About 200 secondary schools from all provinces participate in the preliminary rounds held between January and March 2026. Approximately 2,000 students get the chance to practice debating and speechmaking.
