The Gelderland court has ruled that the province of Gelderland may kill the wolf that bit a runner on April 13, 2025. Animal rights organizations had filed a lawsuit against the environmental permit granted by the province for this. The judge has ruled in favor of the province.
Deputy Harold Zoet in an initial reaction: “It is good that the judge sees the urgency to intervene now. It is irresponsible to let a wolf that displays such unnatural and aggressive behavior roam free. With this ruling from the judge, we can now intervene.”
The implementation of the decision lies in the hands of the Faunabeheereenheid Gelderland.
