We worked with the municipality of Apeldoorn, Water Authority Vallei and Veluwe, and Vitens to explore the potential development of a new water extraction area in Beemte Broekland, north of Apeldoorn. Together we are creating a vision for this area.

All Parties Are Involved

To ensure a sufficient and clean drinking water supply in the future, Apeldoorn-North was designated as a drinking water reservation area in 2022. Vitens is currently investigating whether this area is indeed suitable for sustainable water extraction. Collaboration is essential: the area partners are jointly looking at spatial, ecological (considering the lives of people and animals), and societal challenges. They are also jointly creating a preliminary design for the area.

A Future-Proof Drinking Water Supply

We consider a careful process, with room for input from involved individuals, to be important. In the next phase, environmental impact reports, permit procedures, and various moments for participation (contributing or thinking along) will be introduced. The partners are thus taking an important step together towards a future-proof drinking water supply, with attention to people, nature, and the environment.
