In mid-May, the Energy Race started. Over the next 6 weeks, 24 primary schools from Gelderland will compete to save as much energy as possible in their neighborhoods.

Students from grades 5 to 8 are participating in the Energy Race. After an inspiring guest lecture from an energy expert, they are now getting to work themselves. At home and at school, they are taking various actions to use less energy. Such as turning off the lights when leaving the room, taking shorter showers, or unplugging devices. For each action, they earn points through a special website. Extra points can be earned by making a YouTube video, hanging a poster in a visible place, or appearing in local media.

Playfully Saving Energy

During the race, students learn actively about energy: where it comes from, its impact on the climate, the energy bill, and especially how to save energy themselves. The Energy Races make energy saving fun, educational, and easy. In the second half of June 2025, it will be announced which schools have saved the most energy and who the winners of the Energy Race are. The race is organized by Race Against Waste and Fawaka Ondernemersschool and is made possible by us.

Energy that you do not use does not need to be generated. Therefore, it is important that we use energy more wisely. For example, by turning off devices when they are not in use, insulating buildings, and ensuring that factories can operate on locally generated energy in the future. Want to know more?
