11,000 Jobs Created and Over 18,000 Tons of CO2 Emissions Prevented
Calculations show that European funds in Gelderland created 11,000 additional jobs and prevented 18,546 tons of CO₂ emissions. In these projects, we collaborated with partners from all over Europe, especially from Germany, France, Spain, Belgium, and Italy.
Funding for Many Projects
The funds were allocated to:
- €634 million in subsidies for projects in innovation, nature and biodiversity, climate, mobility, and circular economy
- €427 million in direct payments to Gelderland farmers under the European agricultural policy
- €799 million in loans via the European Investment Bank for Gelderland companies and organizations
The largest recipients are Radboud University in Nijmegen and Wageningen University and Research (WUR). Together they received nearly €400 million for research. The Gelderland small and medium-sized enterprises also benefited: €72 million for a total of 221 projects.
New European Multiannual Financial Framework
In 2028, a new European multiannual financial framework (2028-2034) will start. The European Commission aims to merge funds into one large program for national and regional plans and projects.
Therefore, we collaborate with other regions to demonstrate the importance of regional funds. We remain vigilant to ensure that the economy in our region also becomes stronger.
We Are Already Preparing for the Next European Budget Period.
We want Gelderland to remain at the forefront of a strong, innovative, and sustainable regional economy in the future. European funds are indispensable for this.
