On April 16, 2025, we launched a bicycle helmet discount campaign for the third consecutive year on Bicycle Helmet Day. Within 4 weeks, 5,000 bicycle helmets were purchased at a discount in Gelderland. With the bicycle helmet discount campaign, we align with the national campaign Put It On!

Safe on the Road with a Bicycle Helmet 

In Gelderland, we cycle massively and gladly. This is something to cherish. But as a cyclist in traffic, you are also vulnerable in the event of a collision or fall. Whether that arises from yourself or another road user. With a bicycle helmet, you protect your head in the event of a collision or fall. It reduces the risk of serious injury by about 60% and the risk of fatal head or brain injury by even 70%. 
 

About the Discount Campaign 

Anyone who purchased an approved bicycle helmet at one of the participating stores in Gelderland between April 16 and May 11, 2025, received an immediate €20 discount on the purchase price. The campaign particularly targeted parents of children aged 0 to 12 years, commuters, and cyclists aged 50 and older. There were 5,000 discount vouchers available, and these have all been redeemed. Due to this success, the campaign ends earlier than planned. We are very pleased with the enthusiasm and massive participation. 
 

Put It On 

The campaign Put It On! encourages all cyclists in the Netherlands to wear a bicycle helmet. This initiative from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management promotes the voluntary use of a bicycle helmet. This is to help prevent serious injuries in bicycle accidents. The Province of Gelderland supports this campaign and is actively committed to safe cycling. Everyone safely home.
