During the Transformative Festival Achterhoek, we worked for 5 days in the heart of the province, with open doors. Everyone was welcome. We engaged in conversations with residents, experts, passersby, and other interested parties. It was in this open setting that the most valuable ideas emerged.
We discovered what happens when we have 5 days to give a monumental church, a former school, and a farmstead in Winterswijk a new purpose. Together, we gave empty buildings a new story.
Magazine
All insights, experiences, and results of the Transformative Festival are bundled in a digital magazine. Here, we take you through the week. Read interviews with designers, background stories, and stories about lessons learned. See the results of 5 days of intensive collaboration. Let yourself be inspired by this magazine. Because thinking and doing differently, we do together. Why a Transformative Festival?
Because with creativity, knowledge exchange, and collaboration, we tackle vacancy, housing shortages, and heritage preservation simultaneously. We breathe new life into buildings and contribute to sustainability. We strengthen the livability and identity of the Achterhoek. In 1 week, we collectively gain new insights and experiences that can help address vacancy and preserve heritage throughout Gelderland.
About Ruimtelab
The Transformative Festival is an idea of the Province of Gelderlands Ruimtelab, in collaboration with the municipality of Winterswijk and the Cultural Heritage Agency of the Netherlands.
As Ruimtelab, we create space for experimentation and inspiration. By reflecting on what we do, we cause movement. We explore spatial issues from a different perspective or through a different way of thinking and doing. This leads to new insights for spatial issues.
