Smart Use of Limited Space

Space in Gelderland is scarce. We need space for nature, housing, and the economy. Business parks take up only a small part of the area but contribute a large part of the economic output. Therefore, we want to use this space more wisely and protect it better.

Agreements on New and Existing Sites

In Gelderland, municipalities make agreements through RPWs regarding the development of business parks. The goal is to ensure sufficient, sustainable, and future-proof workplaces. These workplaces must align with economic growth, innovation, and the circular (reusable) economy. The RPW also includes agreements on how existing business parks can be better utilized, as well as process and programming agreements that contribute to sustainable spatial and economic development.

Space for Economy

67% of the total revenue in Gelderland is earned in business parks, while only 2.7% of the total area of Gelderland is used for business parks. It is important that we handle our space very carefully and keep space for the economy.

Positive Collaboration

The Provincial Government is positive about the way the Stedendriehoek region is addressing this. They do ask for clear agreements on reducing existing environmental space that is no longer needed. They also emphasize the importance of good collaboration between all parties involved.

Assessment Framework for Future-Proof Plans

The RPW is now the assessment framework for plans regarding spatial planning, economic development, and the sustainability of business parks in the Stedendriehoek region.
