In the successfully completed sales process, price was not the most important factor. The most important factor was how much less nitrogen was emitted. The bidder with the largest reduction in nitrogen may purchase the farm.
Restoration of Natura 2000 Areas
The sale makes a significant contribution to the restoration of nature in the Veluwe and other Natura 2000 areas due to the large reduction in nitrogen. The purchase agreement also offers a future for the agricultural entrepreneur who must leave another location. The agricultural entrepreneur receives new opportunities at this location. The buyer is required to commit to the management of meadow birds.
Nature Goals and Exchange Land
We bought the farm in 2021 from a farmer who stopped. It concerns a dairy farm with 201 hectares of land. The new buyer takes over approximately 96 hectares of land. Of the remaining land, part is used to achieve nature goals (14 hectares). What remains will be used as exchange land within an area process yet to be started. In this process, farmers, residents, businesses, and the government discuss together what will happen in an area. This takes place in the Oosterwolde polder.
