Procedure for Establishing the Definitive Nature Management Plan 2026

On April 10, 2025, the Nature Management Plan 2026 was established in draft. After that, everyone could respond to the plan (with a position paper) for 6 weeks. All position papers were assessed, and where applicable, incorporated into the definitive Nature Management Plan and the maps. In the response document, we respond to the reactions (the submitted position papers). Everyone who has responded to the Nature Management Plan 2026 will receive this response document.

Gelderland Nature Network

By managing existing nature and developing new nature, we work together with land management organizations and private nature managers to strengthen nature. The network of existing and newly established nature areas is called the Gelderland Nature Network. The Nature Management Plan indicates where in Gelderland which (agricultural) nature is present. It forms the basis for subsidies for the development and management of (agricultural) nature and landscape.

Agreed Hectares for Nature Achieved

In recent years, we have worked hard with our partners on the Gelderland Nature Network. As a result, we have succeeded in developing the agreed hectares and establishing nature. The agreements we made in 2013 with the then Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality form the basis for this. These agreements are recorded in the Nature Pact. Within the task from this Nature Pact, there is no longer room for the realization of new nature, considering all ongoing initiatives.
