Grid congestion causes problems that affect us all
We read about it every day: new construction projects that stall, companies that cannot expand, and consequences for our power supply. Grid congestion costs society a lot of money. Companies miss out on revenue, lose market share, and employment.
Expert Center helps with solutions for a full power grid
In Arnhem, the National Expertise Center for Grid Congestion will be established. It offers companies and governments in Arnhem a place where experts tackle complex issues. Issues that have no answers yet and require combined knowledge. The solutions are important locally, regionally, and nationally. The Expert Center actively helps scale solutions for grid congestion, so that economic development and the energy transition do not come to a standstill.
Letter of Intent
On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, Alliander, TenneT, Province of Gelderland, Oost NL, a representative from all regions of VNO-NCW, HAN University of Applied Sciences, and Connectr – Energy Innovation signed a letter of intent for the establishment of the National Expertise Center for Grid Congestion. In the coming six months, the center will be further developed.
Powercrumbs & Bredenoord wins first award
During the festive gathering of the Expert Center, the National Grid Congestion Solution Award was awarded for the first time. Three finalists presented their proven and smart solutions to the audience and a jury. Powercrumbs & Bredenoord won the prize with their Powerbox. This mobile installation captures residual biogas flows and converts them into clean energy in areas without grid connection. Together with biogas generators, this is a sustainable alternative to diesel generators, for example on construction sites and festivals. The other finalists were: Kersten Techniek and QuinteQ Energy.
Mobile solution Powercrumbs & Bredenoord demonstrates the power of green innovation
Powercrumbs & Bredenoord have created a true win-win with their mobile solution. They generate green energy from a byproduct, which is then used in areas without a connection to the electricity grid. A great example of what is possible. I look forward to even more beautiful, applicable solutions.
