Smarter Production with AI
Using artificial intelligence (AI), NordProfil and JAZO are working together to optimize and automate production processes. The system reduces setup times, improves product quality, and minimizes material waste. Both companies are applying the innovation in their own metal profile factories. The knowledge gained can be utilized more broadly in the manufacturing industry in both the Netherlands and Germany.
Fantastic Milestone for the Border Region
With this grant, we are boosting the digital transformation of SMEs. It is wonderful to see how companies like NordProfil and JAZO leverage cross-border collaboration to produce smarter, more sustainably, and future-proof. This kind of initiative is exactly what our region needs to remain competitive. New proposals are still welcome, so submit your idea! And seize the opportunity to also realize an innovation project within INDUSTR_14.0.
Province of Gelderland
Liane van der Veen, a board member of Oost NL, also spoke of a special milestone: “Reaching the 50th grant shows how many entrepreneurs in the border region seize their chance to innovate with INDUSTR_I4.0. We are proud that both companies are taking the step towards digital production processes. Innovations that not only strengthen themselves but also help advance the entire manufacturing industry.”
INDUSTR_14.0: Digital Transformation in the Border Region
This cross-border collaboration is a great example of the small project fund INDUSTR_14.0. With concrete applications such as AI, IoT (Internet of Things: a network of smart devices that communicate and collaborate via the internet) and digital twins (virtual representations of the real world), the fund helps SMEs in the Dutch-German border region transition to digital technology (digital transition). Until 2027, a total of €10 million is available to help entrepreneurs with their innovation plans. INDUSTR_14.0 is implemented by the Interreg VI program Germany-Netherlands. We, together with other Dutch and German partners, are co-financers of this program.
