The subsidy can be used for various purposes, both within and outside built-up areas, but always outside nature reserves. Think of creating a butterfly garden, planting trees and hedges, restoring landscape elements, and organizing plant distribution days and courses.
Extra Money and Lottery
After there was also a lot of interest in the scheme in 2024, the province has increased the subsidy amount by half a million euros this year. Since all applications were received on the same day, a lottery will determine the order in which projects will be processed. Then it will be checked whether the applications also meet the conditions for receiving subsidies. Applicants will receive further information about this before the end of the year.
Restoration of Nature
Deputy Harold Zoet: “Better biodiversity contributes to the restoration of nature. This is urgently needed for nature itself, but also to be able to grant permits again and to unlock Gelderland. Moreover, it contributes to combating heat stress in urban areas. Now that so many applications have been received, the Provincial States will decide in November whether they want to make extra funds available to enable more projects.”
