On July 10 and 11, 2025, we held a meeting about water. About 60 water experts from the Netherlands and North Rhine-Westphalia (Germany) came together to work better on cross-border water issues.
A New Water Strategy for North Rhine-Westphalia
The workshop was part of the development of a new water strategy in North Rhine-Westphalia. Participants included representatives from Dutch border provinces, the national government, water boards, German regions and municipalities, the Ministry of North Rhine-Westphalia, and several experts. Participants discussed how they could better collaborate on major water issues, such as heavy rainfall, flooding, drought, clean water, groundwater, and nature in and around water. They aim to address these issues effectively and clearly, together with decision-makers and authorities.
We organized the workshop to work towards sustainable cooperation for the future.
The agreements and ideas shared by us and all partners during the meeting will help in making joint plans for water on both sides of the border.
