More Housing Through Smart Use of Existing Buildings

We are working hard to reduce the housing shortage. Building only new homes is not enough. Therefore, we also encourage better use of existing buildings. Think of extensions, adding extra floors, or splitting homes. This way, we create new homes in buildings that already exist.

New Subsidy Scheme from January 2026

From January 2026, we offer a new subsidy scheme. With this scheme, we help homeowners, housing corporations, and municipalities create additional affordable homes.

Two Types of Subsidy

The subsidy scheme consists of two parts:

Process Subsidy

A contribution of up to €10,000 for a feasibility study. This study examines whether it is technically, financially, and legally possible to create at least 6 affordable homes through extensions, adding floors, or splitting.

Realization Subsidy

A contribution of up to €8,000 per additional affordable home. This subsidy is intended for homes added through splitting or extensions.

Applications from January 5, 2026

You can apply for the subsidy from January 5, 2026. The application forms are already available so you can prepare your application. Each application requires a mandatory application format. You can find this under the Documents and Links section.
