To connect the route at Haren to the existing Through-cycle route to Groningen-South, the contractor will widen and convert the path into a concrete cycle path. At the roundabout and the unloading quay near Haren, the temporary cycle path will be removed and replaced by a new concrete cycle path. Cyclists from Glimmen and De Punt heading towards Haren are diverted via the cycle path east of the A28. The Witte Molen remains accessible during the closure.
Also detour at cycle tunnel P+R Haren
The Through-cycle route along the Noord-Willemskanaal, between the Meerwegbrug and the cycle tunnel at P+R/A28 in Haren, is closed from February 6 to April 10. Sandbags are removed here and the contractor is laying a new, wider cycle path. The alternative route for cyclists goes via the P+R and Nesciolaan in Haren. The detour route is indicated with signs.
New wearing course on cycle path
On March 31 and April 1, a new wearing course will be applied on the existing cycle path, from the Meerwegbrug to the Haren roundabout. This causes partial closure of the cycle path. Traffic controllers will assist cyclists crossing at the Meerweg. The industrial area Meerweg 139 to 145a remains accessible.
After the works, the Through-cycle route between De Witte Molen and Groningen-South will be fully completed.
