Artist Natasja Bennink designed the statue, based on stories from victims. The monument offers comfort, strength, and a place to pause together and have conversations. This way, the invisible becomes visible.
Groningen Offensive Against Sexual Violence
The monument is part of the awareness campaign of the Groningen offensive against sexual violence, which focuses on breaking taboos and a joint regional approach. The initiative comes from No Need to Hide, the province, the GGD Groningen-Drenthe, and the Sexual Violence Center.
Ongoing Attention
With this monument, the province aims to continuously raise awareness about the consequences of sexual violence and show that victims are not alone. It is a place of recognition and awareness, where residents can work together for a safe society.
