Residents who want to try a walking aid can make an appointment via a registration form on our website. After making an appointment, a staff member is available at the UMCG Beatrixoord location in Haren for advice and guidance. Participants can try the walker or framerunner free of charge on site. The aids cannot be tried at home.
Alinker
This three-wheeled walker (size M), without pedals, has two wheels at the front and a smaller wheel at the back. This gives the walker a lot of stability. This makes the walker a good option for people with stability problems or for people who cannot or dare not walk without assistance.
Framerunner
The framerunner is for people looking for a more sporty challenge. This walker (size M) also has no pedals, has large wheels, one in front and two in the back. The bike also has a chest support. This model is specially designed for people with a physical disability who use the supporting frame to walk or run faster.
Trial
The trial action is a pilot and lasts 3 months. The action initially only takes place in Haren. Interested parties who cannot come to Haren or need another walking aid or a different size can indicate this via the form. This information helps the province to gauge the needs of Groningen residents for adapted aids.
Pleasant living environment
Walking is healthy, sustainable and contributes to a pleasant living environment. With this action, the province wants to appeal to Groningen residents who want to be active but depend on an aid.
