Zwartwoud demonstrates that circular entrepreneurship (doing business sustainably by reusing materials) can also be economically attractive. The company reuses valuable materials, which alone reduces CO2 emissions by 70 percent. According to the jury, the company has a significant impact, especially in sustainability and socially responsible entrepreneurship.

Besides Zwartwoud, carrier NVO Transport from Zuidbroek and PolyVation, a Groningen-based company developing innovative materials in a chemical laboratory, reached the final. The central theme of the Groningen Business Award 2025 was craftsmanship.
