Through-Cycle Route Groningen-Ten Boer

Extending the Midscheeps bike path in Lewenborg, a concrete bike path of approximately 1200 meters has been constructed. The path connects via the quay of the Borgsloot to the existing Through-Cycle Route towards Garmerwolde and Ten Boer. A new bicycle bridge spans the Borgsloot. Thanks to the adjustments to the Noorddijkerweg, cyclists on the Ten Boer-Groningen Through-Cycle Route have priority almost everywhere. Most of the Through-Cycle Route was already opened in 2018. The province and municipality are pleased that the final section of the route is now complete.

Traffic-Safe Noorddijkerweg

The design of the Noorddijkerweg has been modified with four new road narrowings and three intersections where cyclists have priority. Red asphalt has also been applied, and clear signage and road markings have been installed. Additionally, more greenery has been planted along the road to create a friendly street appearance. The new design is a strong wish of local residents. Despite the maximum speed of 30 km/h, they wanted extra measures for a safer situation. Cyclists, walkers, skaters, and runners share the road with motorized traffic, including agricultural vehicles. The Noorddijkerweg is an important gateway to the Kardinge nature and recreation area and borders the Lewenborg district.
