The subsidy is intended for initiatives that contribute to the expansion of forests and other woody landscape elements in the Province of Groningen. This can include forest plots, hedgerows, or planting along roads and neighborhoods. Greenery on yards, business parks, or schoolyards also qualify for subsidies.
Five components
The €500,000 subsidy is divided over five components: forest planting, landscape lines, and greening of yards, business parks, and schoolyards. Each component has its own budget and conditions. See all conditions on the provinces subsidy page.
41 projects
Since the start of the program in 2022, 41 projects have already received contributions for greening our province. Leaders include the 18 schoolyards that were greened and 14 projects that strengthen the lines in the landscape.
Forest and Wood Program
The scheme is part of the Forest and Wood program, through which the province works on a healthy living environment and the climate. The ‘Forest and Wood Implementation Program 2030’ explains how we make Groningen more beautiful, greener, more biodiverse, and climate resilient. The province collaborates with municipalities, collectives, and area partners.
