The reason is the late submission of an additional appeal against this gas extraction. The province has since had personal contact with all directly involved parties, including residents who filed appeals, colleagues, the Provincial Executive, Provincial Council, and the involved water boards. The province has also apologized to all parties involved for the handling of the matter.
Investigation into decision-making and information provision
The internal investigation focuses on decision-making and information provision within four dossiers on gas extraction and subsurface: Warfum, Pieterzijl-Oost, Grijpskerk-Zuid, and construction monitoring Nedmag. The goal is to identify opportunities for improvement and actively address them.
Simon Sibma (manager and director at executive organizations of the Ministries of Finance, Security and Justice, and Social Affairs) leads the investigation. The investigation will take place in November and December.
The province places great value on careful decision-making and transparent conduct. With this investigation, the province aims to contribute to further improvement of its processes and to prevent recurrence of such errors.
