What will the farm of the future look like? That was the question during the Hackathon North Netherlands, organized by AgroAgenda North Netherlands. In collaboration with the green educational institutions in the region, including DCTerra and Van Hall Larenstein, and with support from Rabobank and the Province of Groningen.

During the hackathon at the provincial government building in Groningen, mbo and hbo students from the three northern provinces collaborated with entrepreneurs and experts on sustainable and innovative ideas. Themes such as nature-inclusive and regenerative agriculture, technology, digitization, circularity, and social innovation were central.

Prize for the best ideas

A jury led by Deputy Leo Wenneger evaluated the submissions. The winning teams received a cash prize from Jan Sikkema of Fascinating. With this amount, the students can further develop their ideas.

Value for the sector

The agricultural sector faces major challenges and opportunities in sustainability, technology, and social impact. The innovative ideas from the students provide valuable contributions to solutions that advance agriculture in the northern provinces.
